Short Description

The Centre of Image and Material Analysis in Cultural Heritage (CIMA) is an interuniversity research institution specialized on research in the fields of imaging, image enhancement, and analysis as well as the non-invasive chemical analysis of the materials used for the production of historical objects. CIMA represents a unique facility with an interdisciplinary approach to the investigation of cultural heritage.

Non-invasive material analysis of art objects (manuscripts):
• Portable confocal Raman, EZRAMAN-L-DUAL wavelength analyzer (Enwave Optronics, USA), equipped with two different lasers: 785 nm/350 mW and 532 nm/50 mW, fiber optics, integrated microscope with 1.3 Mpixel camera, in-Line LED illumination, Leica objectives, and Peltier cooled CCD detector (-60 °C).
• Spectro xSort (Spectro Analytical Systems, Germany): handheld, spot size of the beam: 7 mm, Ag-tube max. voltage 40 kV. www.spectro.com
• IR Spectrometer ALPHA with transmission, µ-ATR (Diamond crystal), and reflection modules, DTGS detector (BRUKER Optik GmbH, Germany)
• XRF Elio (XGLab, Italy): handheld, especially designed for the use in the field of arts, spot size of the beam: 1 mm, Rh-tube with max. power of 4 W, max. voltage 50 kV.
