Short Description

The Molecular and Structural Preclinical Imaging Lab. (PIL/EXPNUC) is part of the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy at the Medical University of Vienna. It offers cutting-edge infrastructure for translational in-vitro, in-vivo and ex-vivo models. The main purpose of the research conducted in the PIL is to optimize imaging methods, provide non-invasive methods as diagnostic tools and therapy monitoring.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

Main research focus lies on:

• Oncology imaging (angiogenesis, hypoxia, proliferation, apoptosis, metabolism)
• Cardiovascular imaging (arteriosclerosis, vulnerable plaque, myocardial ischemia)
• Neuro-radiological imaging (neuro oncology, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease)
• Musculoskeletal radiology (arthritis, pain and inflammation)
