Linz | Website
The VALIE EXPORT Center Linz studies, contextualises and mediates the premature legacy of VALIE EXPORT. International in its orientation, the research center strives to promote the artistic and scientific exploration of media and performance arts.
The estate is continuously digitized and made available to interested parties. The library catalogue (OPAC) is available for search queries on the inventory of books, exhibition catalogues and magazines from the premature legacy of VALIE EXPORT. Acquisitions by the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz which are to illustrate contemporary discourses in the fields of performance, media and visual studies, film, psychoanalysis, feminism, and philosophy will also be entered on an ongoing basis.
The long-term goal is to make the archive holdings accessible online. The VALIE EXPORT Center Linz provides its users with a scientific research service during the establishment phase of the research institution. For research purposes, it is possible to view the artist's films and videos at viewing stations.
Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure
The mission of VALIE EXPORT Center Linz is the research into and appraisal of the artist's premature legacy, as well as its mediation and contextualisation. International in its orientation, the research center strives to promote the artistic and scientific exploration of, in particular, the subject areas of media and performance art, and establishes a link to contemporary artistic practices.
On the basis of the archive materials and the library collection, the artistic/scientific questions can be attributed their place in VALIE EXPORT's oeuvre and teaching, and her reception and international network be located.
In doing so, the VALIE EXPORT Center Linz collaborates with international researchers and seeks to network, interact and co-operate with similarly oriented private and institutional (museum and university) archives around the world.
