Core facility (CF)

Short Description

Global gene analysis

The Medical University of Vienna Core Facility Genomics operates as a full-service genomics facility providing research scientists and clinicians with services for RNA expression profiling and DNA variation analysis. Technologies offered through the Core Facility include the Affymterix GeneChip microarray platform and Illumina HiSeq- and NextSeq sequencing instruments amongst others. Services may include project planning, lab experiments, data analysis, and interpretation.

Research Services

- Genetics/Genomics: DNA-Sequence, mutations and structural variations of the genom
- Epigenetics/Epigenomics: DNA-methylation, histone modifications, chromatin structure and regulatory elements
- Gene expression: protein-coding and non-coding RNAs

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

Gene-targeted analysis: FISH, real-time quantitative PCR, resequencing of candidate genes
Globale Genome Analysis: Next Generation Sequencing (genome-wide resequencing, Exome-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, Bisulfite-Sequencing, de novo sequencing of pathogens), Microarrays (DNA and RNA).

The infrastructure of the core facility genomics is available for use as a pay-for-service facility. Please contact the lab head for specific project questions.
