Short Description
Two regenerator laser stations (RLS) receive a metrological reference signal at 1542 nm from the Austrian National Metrology Institute on the trajectory Vienna-Innsbruck (uplink) and Innsbruck->Vienna (downlink) and pass it on. A spectral narrowing is performed together with level adjustment and Doppler compensation of the respective forward glass fibre segment. Locally, the reference signal is extracted for scientific use at JKU Linz.

Research Services
The RLS stations are outcoupling a 1542 nm reference signal from a glass fibre link Vienna-Innsbruck for the local anchoring of optical research devices at JKU.
Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure
The regenerator laser station (RLS) uses a ultra-narrow laser at 1542 nm to purify and amplify a metrological reference signal with an accuracy of about 1 Hz.
