Short Description

The CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences offers a world-class mass spectrometry and proteomics department with technical and bioinformatics expertise.

Research Services

Due to the critical nature of the mass spectrometry, the facility has been designed to the highest standards with individual cubicles per machine, maintaining a constant temperature with minimal variation. The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Cooling) system runs with N+1 redundancy to maintain operation at all times and the room layouts are also designed to reduce noise and vibrations. The machines runs 24/7.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The work of Dr. Keiryn Bennett focuses on the application of mass spectrometry to understand complex biological systems and the molecular mechanisms underlying disease states and includes:
- Protein-protein interactions to generate protein interactomes
- Drug-protein interactions
- Quantitative expression proteomics for the relative and comparative quantitative analysis of global proteomes
- Monitoring the role of PTMs in cellular signalling pathways.

One Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Velos and one Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Standard MS system, both with Agilent Technologies 1200 Series HPLC systems are available as part of the fee-per-service resources at CeMM or through collaborative projects.
