Short Description

The Cytek Northern Lights™ flow cytometer is a flexible full spectrum flow cytometry solution for everyday research applications. The Northern Lights device features Full Spectrum Profiling™ (FSP™) technology, which enables a wide range of new fluorochrome combinations.

Spectral detection offers many advantages, for example the simultaneous use of dyes such as BV421, Super Bright 436 and eFluor® 450, APC and Alexa Fluor® 647, the optimized detection of weak fluorescent markers through autofluorescence correction, as well as the combination of two side scatters (488/405 SSC) for measuring small particles.

A total of 3 lasers and 41 detectors (38 fluorescence parameters, 2 SSC, 1 FSC) are available for measuring the complete emission spectrum of dyes in the range from 420 nm to 829 nm.

Violet Laser (405nm): 428/15 BP, 443/15 BP, 458/15 BP, 473/15 BP, 508/20 BP, 525/17 BP, 542/17 BP, 581/19 BP, 598/20 BP, 615/20 BP, 664/27 BP, 692/28 BP, 720/29 BP, 750/30 BP, 780/30 BP, 812/34

Blue Laser (488nm): 508/20 BP, 525/17 BP, 542/17 BP, 581/19 BP, 598/20 BP, 615/20 BP, 661/17 BP, 679/18 BP, 697/19 BP, 717/20 BP, 738/21 BP, 760/23 BP, 783/23 BP, 812/34 BP

Red Laser (640nm): 661/17 BP, 679/18 BP, 697/19 BP, 717/20 BP, 738/21 BP, 760/23 BP, 783/23 BP, 812/34 BP

Expert know-how in the handling and staining of cells in preparation for flow cytometric analysis as well as advice on the selection of fluorochromes and measurement parameters.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

Spectral analysis enables highly complex multicolor experiments as well as measurement of the autofluorescence spectrum of cells, so that autofluorescence can be corrected during measurement or during analysis to improve detection of weak fluorescent labels.

The integrated highly sensitive violet side scatter detector (100mW 405nm laser) also enables a wide range of applications for small particles.
