Short Description
The Core Facility Biomedical Research Unit provides researchers and scientific working groups with the opportunity to conduct animal experiments. To ensure ethically responsible decisions, JKU has established an Animal Ethics Council in addition to an Animal Welfare Committee, which takes on the evaluation of animal experiment proposals. This council operates independently and is composed of experts and laypersons in equal proportions, incorporating both expertise and public opinion into the decision-making process. A transparent criteria system has been defined, and at the location, alternative and replacement methods for animal experiments are being developed gradually.
