Short Description
The herbarium SZU is a curated natural history collection hosting ca. 130.000 vouchers of vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens. The focus of the collection is Central Europe and Eurasian mountains. A carpological collection from native plants, a wet collection of orchids (focus Bulbophyllum) and a tissue collection (inkl. DNA-bank) of Alpine plants complement the "traditional" herbarium collection. A part of the collection is digitized and accessible via GBIF.

Research Services
The plant collection is freely accessible for research projects (biosystematics, biodiversity research, etc.). Digital data can be obtained via GBIF Austria (http://gbif.at/). Information about professional plant identification including DNA-Barcoding on request.
