Short Description

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is an optical-based, label-free detection technology for real-time monitoring of binding interactions between molecules. The throughput, flexibility and sensitivity of the SPR platform allows the characterisation of bimolecular interactions in any binding study. A wide range of molecules can be studied, from ions, fragments and small molecules to proteins and viruses. SPR technology provides biophysical data such as affinity, kinetics and thermodynamics.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The SPR instrument is being used to characterise biomolecular interactions (RNA, PNA,...) and for the development of new biosensors (antibodies, antigens, toxins,..) as well as for materials for self-assembled monolayers (e.g. semiconductors).

Terms of Use

Use within scientific cooperation depending on availability and in accordance with the guidelines of the TU Vienna.
