Short Description
The Austrian Ornithological Centre is a scientific institution of Vetmeduni Vienna. The tasks of the ornithological station include research into the way of life of wild birds, the analysis of threats to our bird world and the monitoring and promotion of rare species in particular. In Seebarn we offer an extensive excursion and seminar programme. Here you can explore the world of birds and their habitats together with experts or attend expert lectures. You can find out more about our current programme of events at http://www.vogelwarte.at/
With our practice-oriented research approaches, we involve the public in science. Where do swallows still nest today? Were there storks in the Wagram region and why have they become rare today? What causes species that have temporarily disappeared to find a new home in the vine yards at the Wagram? With different research methods such as Citizen Science or bird marking we try to clarify these and other questions.
