Short Description
The mineralogical exhibition and research collection of the University of Salzburg comprises around 15,000 pieces and has been built over the last 50 years. It serves as a basis for teaching and scientific research. The collection is ordered and cataloged according to the Nickel-Strunz system.
A selection of particularly aesthetic items is presented in the vaulted cellar of the Rectorate in Kapitelgasse 6. In addition to a systematic collection, minerals from Austria are a special focus of the exhibition. A visit to the exhibition is possible at any time by appointment. The mineralogical collection is also part of the "Long Night of Museums".
