Short Description

Specially equipped facilities for the synthesis, analysis and validation of material in small-sized cells open the door to comprehensive battery materials research. The focus is primarily on the development of high-performance cathodes and high-energy anode materials as well as on the optimisation of known cell chemistries.

Particle size distribution by means of X-ray diffraction and / or laser diffraction or laser scattering
• Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), SEM-EDX
• Material evaluation in coin and pouch cells from 1 mAh up to 10 Ah
• Electrochemical analysis in 2-, 3-electrodes cell configuration
• Moisture content determination in electrolytes (Karl -Fischer -titration)
• Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy / Attenuated Total Reflection (FTIR / ATR)
• Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry (GC / MS)

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

ACCREDITED METHODS (ISO, IEC):
• Thermal analysis (TGA and DTA measurement,

ACCELERATING RATE CALORIMETER, ARC)
• Elemental analysis (X-Ray Fluorescence, XRF)
• Crystal Structure Analysis (X-Ray Diffraction, XRD)
• Specific surface area measurements by means of gas adsorption (BET)
