Short Description

Time-Resolved Fluorescence Microscopy (TRFM), refers to the measurement of the temporal dynamics of fluorescence or fluorophore-bound molecules with a resolution of picoseconds to microseconds (depending on the process of interest). This generally requires sensitive and very fast detectors, and often optimized sample preparation. It can yield information on the local environment of the fluorophores such as the distances between certain fluorescent species with a precision of several angstroms, diffusion dynamics of molecules, the local viscosity, rotational mobility, and even their concentration with single molecule precision.
