Short Description

The Gam2000 is a quadrupole mass spectrometer and enables isotope-resolved, continuous, on-line measurement of gas components over a mass range of 2-300 m/z. Many masses can be measured within one measurement run. The instrument is equipped with two inlet ports - a capillary inlet for direct measurement of gases, and a membrane inlet (MIMS) for measurement of dissolved gases in liquids (e.g. gas production in microorganism culture media).

Research Services

No research services are offered for this device, but measurements can be carried out for other institutions in scientific collaborations. Interested parties can contact Katharina Kitzinger (katharina.kitzinger@univie.ac.at) or Petra Pjevac (petra.pjevac@univie.ac.at).

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

Analysis of consumption and production of inorganic gases (e.g. H2, O2, N2, N2O, CO2, CO) by biological processes, e.g. in cultures of microorganisms, both by measurement of gas components with natural isotope composition and in experiments with stable isotope tracers (e.g. 15N, 13C).

Terms of Use

There are no specific conditions of use. Interested parties can contact Katharina Kitzinger (katharina.kitzinger@univie.ac.at) or Petra Pjevac (petra.pjevac@univie.ac.at).
